Yup, We're Roofers

Jeff and I spent Saturday on top of my sisters roof with about ten other people roofing away. Who knew? Sunday's rain delayed us, but we should be finished by next weekend. Just when you think you've worked hard enough, try roofing. Ouch.

Funk

I'm in a nasty funk today. Remember Mr. Furious from Mystery Men? Yeah, I'm on his level right now.

LOTR

I watched LOTR III last night with Jeff. The movie would have been good if it weren't for that stupid cry baby Frodo. Sam was the true hero.

Mt Dora Salad Bitch

Jeff and I were both off for Presidents Day. Instead of loafing around our usual places, we decided to drive up to Mt Dora to check out the antique shops and have lunch. Mind you, we only go about once a year with Jeff's parents to check out the Christmas lights and decorations. In the dark and during the holidays, Mt Dora seems quite charming.

We arrived only to fight for parking. We finale found a spot and started our walk. Instead of charming antiques, the stores were full of overpriced crap and rude old people. We went Eduardo's Station for lunch. We were seated, got our drinks and then just waited. Our waitress was all over the place. We were fine, we didn't mind the wait, we could see that she was busy, However, about twenty minutes later she came over to take our order, a screechy voice quivered from the corner. "Umm, we need more salad dressing!" The waitress, in the middle of taking our order left to get grandma her side of Ranch. Fine, we'll just wait for her to come back. She never did. She was then so distracted by the customers discovering she was on the floor and wanting more salad dressing and whatever, that another ten minutes went by and so we left. I really wanted to say something to the salad dressing grandma, but I held back. What a bitch. I hope it was the best salad she had ever had.

We ended up at a little Irish Pub and had Scotch Eggs, corned beef and Cabbage and Cottage Pie for lunch. Very tasty and the service was excellent.

Save your gas money and visit Mt Dora only whe you want to see Christmas lights.

Working On The Chain

Saturday, Jeff and I surprised the universe. We did some major yard work. Not just cutting grass and planting plants, but tree hauling, concrete breaking dirt digging work.

My good friend Tammy had her yard trashed during Hurricane Charley. There was an oak tree that was so wide that it spread across her yard, the street and over the neighbors house. The trunk was as wide as a small car. The hurricane blew that over causing the roots to pull up some sod and the sidewalk. It took about seven weeks for the tree to be hauled away, leaving a nasty root structure and a torn up sidewalk. The city promised to fix the sidewalk, and they did, but by doing so they tore up the front curb and grass. The city promised to fix that by filling it with concrete and rocks. Nice.

So on Saturday, Jeff and I joined Tammy, her boyfriend Shawn, and her mom and dad to fix this mess. We dug up about half the yard and the boys took a chainsaw and ax to the roots while Tammy and I worked on the curb breaking concrete and shoveling rocks. Then we had to fill all this in with good dirt so the new sod could be placed. We worked about 8 hours on our little chain gang.

Believe it or not Jeff and I had a nice time. Tammy and Shawn are good friends and who knew how much fun we would have doing back breaking labor. Her family is the best. We closed the evening drinking a few beers by the outdoor fireplace. My back and ass hurts like hell though.

Next stop will be new roof followed by new floors. Watch out Bob Villa, the Stanfords are getting a clue.

Cats and Teeth

I know that Larry has lost his baby teeth, and has his adult teeth, but when do cats actually stop teething? Between whats left of Jeff's ankles and Larry's Gene Simmons doll, he's running out of things to chew on.

We Went to St. Pete

Happy birthday, Jyotika! Thanks, we had a great time.

Jeff and I spent Saturday in St. Pete celebrating Jyotika's birthday. We ate at tasty Carmelitas, sipped some coffee, and caught up on the dirt on each other. I learned four very important things that day.

1. Heather and Trent are getting married! Yahoo!!!!!! Heather will be a Faust. There's nothing better.

2. In a deep discussion about names for our cars, I learned from Amy E., that Hobbs is a great philosopher. So Jeff's car is not just named after Miranda Hobbs from Sex and the City, but after one of the worlds greatest mind, body and spirit.

3. No matter how hard you try, Scott will NEVER wear a tiara.

4. Amy E. feels the same way about SciFi as I do. Finally, I have a person to turn to. We can support each other.

We missed the Hollands being there, but we were in good company. Good luck to Amy E. and Scott on condo closing day and to Heather and Trent on wedding stuff. Jeff and I are getting ready for floor day.

Puke McGee

I was at the gym last night doing cardio when I noticed the guy next to me didn't look so good. I just ignored it and kept on going. I looked over again and he was looking almost purple. He bent over a little and then hurled on to the floor. A couple of trainers came to his aid. He was fine, just over did it a little. Good thing my Burberry was on the other side. Nasty. I finished the evening doing three miles in 35 minutes. Good for me! Haven't lost a pound. Damn.
