Now Grandma Is Making Hashbrowns With Jesus

That's what Jeff said to make everyone smile after her service.

Unfortunatly, we were unable to vote on Tuesday, we were in Iowa at Grandma Inez's funeral. It was a nice service and I got to meet Jeff's mother's side of the family. It was sad, knowing grandma wouldn't be here anymore to talk to, but now she's having dance parties and making her famous shipwreck pancakes for everyone in Heaven.

The trip would not be complete without a little weather drama. It was a no brainer it would be cold and snowy, but the forcast predicted good weather. Not the case. Tuesday it dipped down to -6 and we were what the farmers call a "white out", where the wind blows so strong that it stirs up the snow so much you can't even see past your car. Grandma's funeral was cut short and the buriel was canceled. With the snow and wind, ice and wind chill of -25 , roads were closed for travel because even the snow plows couldn't work in that kind of weather.

We waited it out at the hotel until about 3AM when the wind died and Bud could see a plow off in the distance. We packed up and headed to Cedar Rapids, a 5 hour drive, so that Jeff and I could catch our flight. Bud and Sharon then turned around to go back to Stom Lake to see if they could finish the service that day.

Jeff thinks grandma planned it so that we could all snuggle together for just a little while longer. Something she loved to to do.
