He Was Reading The Paper

I have been telling Jeff for forever and a day that he needs to pay more attention to his driving. One time when I was following him to the science center for an event, he was driving, talking on the phone, reading the paper and drinking his Starbucks all at the same time. I had a fit.

The other night while he was on his way home, he called me to say he was running late because of an accident. When I asked him what happened, he explained that a car rolled across the intersection and came with in 5 feet of his. When I asked if he saw how it happened, he said no, he was reading the paper and then heard a noise, looked up and saw a car on it's side coming towards him, so he backed his car up so it wouldn't get hit.

HE WAS READING THE PAPER!!!!!!!!!

He told the state troopers he didn't see how it happened, he wanted to be honest and of course it was weird since he was the only car in that intersection, so they let him go.

HE WAS READING THE PAPER!!!!!!!!!

I still love him, but I worry a little because what if he didn't hear the car coming because he was on his phone or jamming to some super cool Bruce Horsnby tunes. That car could have smacked right in to him.

After I got all crazy on him, he promised not to read the paper anymore while driving, but he can't make any promises with the phone or Starbucks.
